Kasual, formerly known as Yumi, is an NSA dating app. Meaning that it promises to provide its users with a No-Strings-Attached dating experience. Or in other words, this is the digital avatar for hookups and one-night stands. So if you’re someone who is looking to have a few moments of pleasure with someone in your city, this is the app you should download.
Furthermore, the developers stress that the app welcomes all sorts of users irrespective of their gender and sexuality. However, they have a strict ban policy on scammers, spammers, and prostitutes.
Basically, they strive to create a platform where the average Joe can log into and find himself a damsel to spend a few nights with.

How do you use the application?
Using the application is pretty straightforward.
- Download it from the iOS AppStore or Google play store free of cost.
- Set in your picture, or just upload a picture of your favorite pet. Mind you; you don’t necessarily need to show your face. Kasual has a built-in photo editor that you can use to blur out your face or add in random emojis to block out portions. Privacy is key and Kasual lets you decide on that.
- Now just start flipping the cards on your screen to see other local profiles. Once you match up with someone, throw an ice-breaker and carry forward the conversation.
That’s it. You don’t need to upload your name, birth date, or any other personal information!
What are the pros of using the Kasual dating app?
With my research I found some features about Kasual that stand out from the crowd:
Dedication to privacy
Kasual doesn’t ask for any personal information. Even though this sort of info could have helped them but they have designed their algorithm in such a manner that they could do without the need for this data. This is a huge relief for users as it helps them protect their identity in times of any unfortunate security breach.
No tolerance policy for nudity or explicit content
Kasual takes a very strict stance towards nudity and NSFW content hence making the platform a safe space for average users.
No tolerance policy toward scammers, spammers, prostitutes, and escorts
It has been seen that scammers and spammers get banned within a few hours. Similarly, any report of prostitution or escorting leads to an instant ban of the concerned profiles. This helps in improving the user experience so that they truly get the “no strings attached” experience they were looking for.
Fun matching game for users that increases the match potential to about 50%
With every login, the user gets to participate in a matching game that is extremely useful if someone has hit on you. The chances of a match happening increase by 50% through this game.
What are the cons of the Kasual app?
Like any other dating app, Kasual, too, has its dark side.
Frequent reports of bugs and glitches
There have been innumerable reports of bugs and glitches in the app. Therefore the user experience might not be the very best.
Complaints of illegal activities and prostitution scams
Even though the developers try their best to keep the app clean, there have been several allegations of prostitution scams and apparent pedophilic scams. The website has no strict age verification method, so underage users might use the app leading to unnecessary attention from people with uncertain morality.
Kasual works on your geo-location
Kasual solely relies on your phone’s GPS. So if, by any chance, your device’s GPS is faulty or you don’t like the place you’re living in, you will be stuck with no option.
What is the pricing structure of the Kasual dating app?
Kasual is mainly free to use. You can register on the app, match with other users and chat with them without spending a dime. However, if you want access to premium features such as boosting your profile, knowing who liked you, or setting filters based on your preferences, you might want to opt for a subscription.
They are priced as follows:
- 1 month for USD 29.99
- 3 months for USD 59.99 ($19.99 per month)
- 6 months for USD 89.99 ($14.99 per month)
Is Kasual app legit?
Now, this is a rather interesting question. The app claims to have 5 million users worldwide with over 20,000 five-star ratings on the Google play store. But when I was researching about it, I found innumerable complaints about the app. There were criticisms on how the dating app is filled with hookers and prostitutes. There were even criticisms of the model of business; one user claimed that the app had fake profiles with suspicious imagery resembling a “somewhat minor aged person with the intention of attracting immoral men”.
These allegations make me doubt the legitimacy of this app.
How would I rate the Kasual dating app?
I have listed down the essential factors that lead to a good user experience the rated the app as such:
UI/UX: 2/5
The app could do so much in terms of its UI. Numerous glitches and bug reports make it difficult to rate it any higher.
Registration and Ease of use: 4/5
The app is very intuitive and has a simple registration process that can be completed in no time.
Active profiles: 1/5
Even though the website claims millions of users, over 70% of the members are either inactive or fake accounts. So the number of active users is far less.
Quality of profiles: 1/5
With innumerable fake accounts and spam profiles, the real ones get trapped out so the user experience in finding a quality profile is far lesser than what one expects.
Cost-effectiveness: 2/5
This isn’t one of the pricey apps out there. However, since the chances of finding a good match are very low, the price paid does not seem to be of any value.
Would I recommend the Kasual app to readers?
I wouldn’t recommend this app to the average user. Kasual, even though it seems promising in its ideas, has some fundamental issues in addressing them. I believe once the developers start taking note of such issues, this app might boom to its full potential.
However, for now, you can fairly skip it for another app. Perhaps, you have a better chance of finding a match at the local bar than through this app!
