My First-Hand Adventure with Fling.me

As the name suggests, Fling.me is a niche dating site that caters to casual hookups. While you can use the platform to interact with other members, it’s better suited for flirting, exchanging pics, and setting up casual dates. It’s a well-known dating site with thousands of new members joining every month.

The website’s simple and inviting sign-up page convinced me to give it a shot. Here’s what I found when I signed up with Fling.me.

Signing Up

One thing I love about Fling.me is its ease of signing up. The first step was selecting my gender. While I thought the site would have options such as couples or trans, the only available options were male and female. This merely raised an eyebrow later, as I found several couple accounts after I was able to access the main feed.

After choosing my gender I was redirected to a registration page where I shared my age and city name before pressing next. Fling.me then requested me to share my email address and choose a password.

Once done with this part, I proceeded to confirm my registration via email. I appreciate how fast the entire registration process was, as it only took me about two minutes to complete.

After completing the registration, the next step was editing my profile, which involved filling out stuff like display name, basic about me info, interests, and even setting my initial naughty meter. The good thing is Fling.me allows users to fill out profiles gradually, so I saved the rest of mine for later.

Site Layout

Fling.me redirected me to a homepage, that honestly felt a little busy at first glance. It wasn’t the most intuitive starter page at first, but I’ve also seen much worse when it comes to organization and where my eye should go. I thought they could make better use of the space and layout, but once you get a lay of the land it’s pretty straightforward.

I loved that there was a convenient search button on the main feed (just before profiles), that allowed me to choose whether I was seeking a man, a woman, or a couple, my preferred age group, and geographical distance.

As shown above, Fling.me has a who’s online now section that shows nearby members who are online. Another feature I loved on the homepage is the section dubbed ‘What are you in the mood for?’ Answers to this question are displayed on a user’s profile as it notifies other members of your short-term preferences.

Member Profiles

The first thing I noticed when checking out user profiles on Fling.me was how detailed they were. There were useful buttons like message, add friend, favorite, and wink on all user profiles, which helped streamline communication on the platform.

Although wink is a useful icebreaker, it isn’t all that popular on the app (based on my personal experience). I’ve quickly learned that users prefer direct conversations. No beating about the bush here. Let’s get to it!

I also like that you can initiate a private video chat by clicking on the video icon right below a user’s profile. But you can’t video chat with another user until you’ve exchanged messages. This seems fair enough.

Status updates are placed on the right side of user profiles, where other members can like or comment. I’ve made a habit of commenting on other users’ updates, as it’s a great way to make new friends on the platform.

Fling.me’s Features

Not too many apps compare to Fling.me when it comes to features. Here are some of the top features I’ve been enjoying since registering on the app.

Naughty Meter

Yep, you read that right. There’s a naughty meter on every member’s profile (below the profile picture). You can set your naughty meter marker anywhere between the Vanilla range (reserved) to the Lil Freaky range (adventurous). I usually check this setting first before initiating contact with other users. I’m sure you’ll find this helpful too, to get that first sense of what this person is about and looking for.

Notify Me

FOMO is a big deal for me, which is exactly why I appreciate Fling’s notification feature. The best part? You don’t have to scroll through profiles or click multiple buttons to turn this feature on. Just click on the ‘Notify Me’ button, which is usually under a user’s profile, to get instant notifications when they’re online or go live. Perfect!

Status Updates

One of Fling’s standout features is its social media feel. It’s nice to know that, similar to apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, and Instagram, you can update your status and make your feelings known on Fling.me. Plus, you can also make your status private if you’re the reserved type.

Last Seen

Did you know that Fling.me reveals the last-seen date of all profiles? I always check a user’s last seen before initiating conversations. Trust me, this approach has saved me a lot of time. Props to the Fling.me team for being thoughtful on this one. I’d strongly advise against texting profiles that haven’t been used in weeks, at least if you want to make solid strides on the platform.

Advanced Search Filters

Fling.me is king when it comes to search filters, trust me! Besides the usual search filters, you can filter profiles by geographical distance, online now, who’s viewed me, new faces, height, and marital status. You can even browse by state, which can come in handy if you travel a lot around the U.S.

Fling.me uses a credit system where members buy credits to tip live models and access premium features like priority messages and profile boosts. Here’s a quick overview of the credit packages and costs.

Final Verdict: Is Fling.me Worth the Hype?

Fling.me is worth it if you’re looking for a casual dating site with a large member pool. Ladies make up 42% of the member population, while there is also a good number of couples’ accounts registered on the platform.

Some of the standout features that made me fall in love with Fling.me is the advanced search filter, ease of use, quick sign-up, live videos, and detailed member profiles.

When creating a Fling.me account, I definitely advise you to take the time to complete your profile. An incomplete profile will do more harm than good, as users rarely interact with dormant accounts or suspicious-looking ones with incomplete profiles.

Another tip I’d give you is to like and comment on other members’ posts and statuses. It might not seem like much, but it has helped boost my on-site interactions significantly.

Fling is definitely a platform I look forward to using even more in the future as it feels promising from day one and every time you sign on.
